As a business development and operations intern, the candidate will be developing the smart grid from the ground up by developing infrastructure that allows energy reduction projects to connect to the grid at large. The candidate will help facilities optimize their energy use and will also refine the internal processes and automation we use to serve our customers.

Compensation and Location

Full time paid summer internships are 40 hours per week, working three days per week in our Bedford Hills office, and two days in New York City. The rate is $12/hour with a $20/day travel stipend for days traveled on Metro North. Keep in mind that 25% of our permanent employees started as summer interns. Joule Assets is seeking candidates that have a passion for understanding investments how the energy markets function and how to maximize the value of investments that reduce energy use.

As an investor relations intern, the candidate will play an integral role in identifying, recruiting, and communicating with potential investors interested in this investment opportunity either for its climate impact, its attractive return profile, or both. In addition, the candidate will support development of networks and outreach to expand fund deployment opportunities.

  • Support investor relations team in building database of current and prospective investors, developing newsletters and other collateral that clearly communicates fund strategy and returns and developing outreach campaigns to investors.

Director of Marketing

Joule Assets’ Director of Marketing should quickly grow to inhabit a centerpiece position in the “energy reduction” industry. The company successfully rewrites the rules of the game, and builds its sustainable for-profit business within these emerging markets.

The successful candidate will help shape and execute a highly successful marketing plan in the energy efficiency and smart grid investment space in North America and Europe.  (S)he will lead a team of sector experts in essential and interconnected aspects of Joule’s model towards a cohesive, simplified and compelling message about both the market opportunity and Joule’s unique strategy in addressing it. Further, the ideal candidate will have the confidence to act in a unifying capacity both inside and outside the firm, shaping a complex message that addresses the needs of multiple audiences into a memorable and compelling narrative. Sector expertise is not a requirement though effective communication skills are essential.

 Responsibilities – the successful Director of Marketing will:

  • Create a comprehensive social media strategy to define programs that use social media marketing techniques to increase visibility, buy-in and traffic across all Joule products and services
  • Experiment with new and alternative ways to leverage social media activities (“marketing R&D”)
  • Personally lead and work with the support of Joule’s public relations firm and other outside consultants to build and execute a direct marketing campaign, including social media initiatives, news release/blog writing and coordination, trade and client correspondence, coordinate media and “thought leadership” interviews, trade and target customer research, persuade organizers to include Joule in industry events, prepare event presentations, update the website, etc.
  • Supervise Joule staff and a wide range of contracted parties in creating white papers, short commentary, and professional collateral material.

Joule Assets is seeking a candidate willing to understand the energy markets structures, and to contribute to the successful development of a software solution to independently verify and maximize the value of investments. We are looking for a candidate who can analyze energy industry data and support its transformation into database queries and cash flow models.

As a Data Scientist, the candidate will:

  • Play an integral role in the development and testing of Joule Assets’ ERA platform, an IT-based investment assessment tool
  • Design queries and cash flow momdels to valuate ERA projects
  • Actively support the integration of the ERA tool into a wider IT framework, under the scope of an EU research project
  • Acquire hands-on experience in the development of a state-of-the-art PaaS (Platform-as-a-Service) software solution
  • Get an in depth understanding of energy reduction assests market structures

The selected candidate will eventually work in Joule Asset Europe’s Italian office located in Genoa, under the joint supervision of Jessica Stromback and Michael Pachlatko. The candidate will also collaborate and learn from Joule Assets’ experienced team, based out of New York.
